Krakteknik - Find håndværker
Krakteknik is the largest Danish engine specialized in finding entrepreneurs and materials.

Yahoo - www.yahoo.com
The largest index on the internet. Gets its robot results from Google. Company sites must have a .com Internet presence and pay a review fee of $199. A very important directory to get listed.

LookSmart - www.looksmart.com
LookSmart does provide a directory service, but has it's main impact as a database provider to big services like AltaVista, Excite, MSN and others. Claims to reach 83% of US Internet users. Review fee of $199 - with occasional cut offs - very important.

AltaVista - www.altavista.com
Scooter is the AltaVista spider, who crawls the web and indexes pages in Altavistas own databases. The main results in AltaVista comes from LookSmart. Has regional versions in several languages.

Excite - www.excite.com
Like AltaVista, Excite receives it's main results from LookSmart. The Excite spider is Architext. Excite has about 5% of referrals but is still important and has always been one of the big ones.

Google - www.google.com
Rather a newcomer, but since it's deal with Yahoo, absolutely one of the big players. Google was one of the first search engines to use inbound link popularity as a ranking criteria.

Fast - www.alltheweb.com
Like LookSmart, Fast is mainly a database provider. It used to be rather big, still serves most Lycos Europe sites, but it's impact is declining. Norwegian based.

Lycos - www.lycos.com
Has country specific IP redirects, so you will probably the local Lycos site. Lycos has expanded in Europe lately and must be considered a major player, especially in Europe, but as an old service it has many US users too.

Inktomi - www.inktomi.com
The Inktomi paid inclusion differs from LookSmart and Yahoo. You pay per page, and the fee will guarantee a visit from Slurp, the Inktomi spider. Inktomi has no search service but provides results to AOL and others, so for the US market it's an important place to get listed.

GoTo - www.goto.com
Goto is a pay per click search engine, that means you can bit on keywords for which you want a high ranking. Goto has a suggestion tool, where you can check searches per keyword. In some cases a very good investment.

DMOZ - www.dmoz.org
The Open Directory Project (ODP) or DMOZ is a directory of voluntary editors, with internet experience and special interest in their fields. ODP / DMOZ is an important directory and it's database is widely used.
