When Expecting a Baby

Expecting, or already have new born in your household? Then it is certain you you need some basic equipment to easy your life. Stuff like a baby alarm, safety seat and pram. Of course you may need lots more, but above mentioned is the most widely used baby equipment.

When your new born goes to sleep it’s very important that you are aware of what is going on when the child is a sleep. One way to achieve this, is using a baby alarm or even better a baby monitor. Baby alarms are an effective way of keeping an ear on the child at all times, even when you are not in the same room as the child or on the move around the house.

If your budget can carry it, you could go for the more advanced alternative to baby alarms, a baby monitor. A baby monitor is simply a baby alarm with a camera that give you one way visual contact with the child. This solution is not a required but is nice to have – especially if you are a new parent.

If you own a vehicle and use it to transport your child around, you must have a safety seat. This is not an option but a requirement for every responsible parent. In the case of an accident, this will probably minimize damage, if any. If the seat is a mobile safety seat, it will also serve you well in many other daily servings. Be aware that you need to get a certified safety seat. If not certified, you cannot count on the effects of it, in the case of an accident.

Every parent need a pram. You can live without it, but then you will have to carry your child on your shoulders or similar. That is defiantly not an optimal solution as it in time, will require a lot of muscle power. You need a pram that fit your needs. A cheap pram will probably serve you well, but putting in a little extra budget for one, may help to ease your life a little bit. Features like the wheels , ties, mobility and over all construction will most likely be better on more expensive models.

Remember that you need to buy certified baby equipment. This is the only way to know that the product you are buying has been tested at an authorized lab. This is of the out most importance because you will then know that your child cannot damage it self on the equipment.

When buying baby equipment inside the US, you need to look after the certification label from JPMA (Juvenile Products Manufacturers Association). The association is responsible for the safety of you certified product. When buying inside EU you among others have to look after the ECE R 44/04 certification. This certification is the standard for safety equipment, hereunder safety seats for children. In EU many other forms of certification exist, so confer with you baby equipment dealer if you have doubts.
